Thanksgiving Recycling Tips
Thanksgiving is upon us. With this Thursday tradition, we find ourselves gorging on turkey and pumpkin pie, watching football, and starting our Christmas shopping. With all of the events going on, let’s not forget to recycle. Here are a few simple ways to recycle this Thanksgiving weekend:
Recycle cans and metal trays. Cranberry sauce, vegetables, drinks, and many other typical Thanksgiving treats come in canned form. That’s not even mentioning things such as disposable turkey and pie trays. When you’re down using all of these items, put them all in their proper recycling container.
Recycle plastic bags. This weekend, we all go shopping first to buy food for our Thanksgiving feast, then later, for our Black Friday treasures. Be sure to recycle all the plastic bags you receive this weekend, or better yet, reuse old plastic bags or use reusable bags.
Compost leftover Thanksgiving dinner. Leftover turkey and other scraps are a great way to reuse food that would otherwise go to waste.
Recycle electronics. After the food is devoured and the last field goal is kicked, lots of Americans go out and buy the latest technology whether that’s a TV, video game system, cell phone, etc. When you come home with your new gadget, think about how to recycle the old item it’s replacing. Copper, gold, palladium, and other metals are inside electronics and are harmful to the environment, so find an electronics recycler near you.

Happy Thanksgiving!
